The short answer
A free online skin analysis looks at photos of your face and describes what’s visible, such as spots, blackheads, oily areas or dark marks. A good one says how sure it is, explains what each thing means, and tells you what to use. Before you upload, check what’s actually free, what happens to your photos, and whether it claims to diagnose (it shouldn’t).
What a photo can and can’t show
Photos are good at visible, surface things: blackheads, spots, redness, shine, dark marks and dark circles. They’re poor at anything that depends on touch, depth or history, and light can make skin look oilier, redder or more even than it is. Our guide to AI skin analysis goes into what a selfie can and can’t tell you, and how to take photos that read well.
No photo analysis can diagnose a skin condition. Painful, deep or scarring breakouts, or a mole that changes, need a GP or dermatologist.
What to check before you upload
- What’s free: is it the whole result, or a teaser with the useful part behind a payment?
- Your photos: who can see them, whether they’re used to train AI, and whether you can delete them.
- Scores: a “skin age” or score out of 100 tells you little about what to do. A plain description is more useful.
- Product picks: are brands paying to be recommended? Look for a clear statement either way.
What FacialStack gives you free
FacialStack reads three photos (front, left and right). With a free sign-in, adults 18+ get, for free:
- what’s visible on your skin, how much, and how clear each thing was in the photo;
- what each thing is and what helps;
- a morning and night routine, in the right order;
- a named product for every step, picked for your skin type and budget from a fixed list of real products, with where to buy it.
There’s no face score or attractiveness rating. Photos stay in private storage only your account can open, aren’t used to train AI, and can be deleted any time. Brands can’t pay to be picked; some shop links may earn us a small commission, which never changes the picks. You can see a full example report first.
What costs money, and how to get it free
Only progress tracking is paid: ticking off your routine, streaks, rescans and before-and-after comparisons with your last scan. That’s FacialStack Pro. You can pay once, or get it free by inviting 2 friends, which adds 1 month of Pro (how inviting friends works). Your report and products never need Pro.
Not sure where to start?
Want to see what a free analysis says about your skin? FacialStack looks at three photos of your face (front, left and right), describes what’s visible and builds a simple morning and night routine with a named product for every step, picked for your skin and budget, with where to buy it. The report and every product are free with a free sign-in, for adults 18+. It’s cosmetic guidance from what a photo shows, not a diagnosis. You can see an example report first.
Pro is optional and tracks your progress: tick off your routine, keep a streak, rescan and compare before and after. It’s US$9.99 once, or free: invite 2 friends and you get 1 month of Pro (how inviting friends works).
